112th CALIFORNIA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT:

156 players will play two rounds of stroke play.

 

Monday, June 19: Round 1 (18 holes, stroke play) 7:30-9:30, 12:30-2:30

Tuesday, June 20: Round 2 (18 holes, stroke play). 7:30-9:30, 12:30-2:30

 

Following the second round, the field will be cut to the low 32 players for match play.

A Playoff to determine final qualifying spots for match play will take place immediately following conclusion of Round 2.

 

Wednesday, June 21: Round of 32 (match play) 7:30-10:00

Thursday, June 22: Round of 16 (match play) 7:30-8:40

Friday, June 23: Quarterfinals & Semifinals (match play) 7:30-8:00, 1:00-1:10

Saturday, June 24: Championship Match (36-hole match-play final) 7:30, 12:30

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: Starting times and pairings will be emailed to players and posted online as ncga.org and scga.org one week prior to the championship.

 

PRACTICE ROUND INFORMATION: DO NOT CONTACT LAKE MERCED UNTIL AFTER JUNE 1. Lake Merced GC will host one practice round for participants only.  Golf Carts are not available for the practice rounds. Players must walk during the practice round. Caddies may accompany the player during the practice round, but may not play. A 2:00 shotgun start is scheduled on Sunday, June 18th. Players are to contact the Pro Shop from June 1-June 11 to make arrangements at 650/755-2239. Pairings requests must be made prior to June 11. Local players are encouraged to schedule a practice round prior to Sunday, June 18th to allow more room in the shotgun start for players traveling from out of town. Tee times are available 2:30pm and later on the following dates:

Wednesday, June 14th

 

Practice facilities are available 1 hour before your practice round. Do not arrive expecting access to the facility more than 1 hour prior to your practice round.

 

Golf Carts are not available for the practice rounds. Players must walk during the practice round.

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION: All participants must check in at the registration table located outside the Pro Shop on either Sunday, June 18 (12:00-2:00 p.m.) or Monday, June 19 beginning at 6:30 a.m.

 

DRIVING RANGE: The driving range will be open approximately one hour prior to the first starting time. Range balls will be provided at no charge. 

 

CADDIES: Players may provide their own caddie for the championship proper. Lake Merced GC has a limited number of caddies. Contact the Pro Shop. Reservations must be made in advance.

 

GOLF CARTS & PUSH CARTS: During a round, a player and caddie must not ride on any form or motorized transportation except as authorized or later approved by the Committee. Model Local Rule G-6. Players seeking to use a golf card due to a medical or ADA-related reason must contact the NCGA in advance. Pull or push carts (including motorized pull or push carts) are permitted. Lake Merced GC has a limited number of carts available for rent. 

 

MOBILE DEVICE POLICY: Players, caddies, and spectators should turn mobile devices off or to silent mode while on the
property and limit calls to inside their vehicle. Live scoring will be available throughout the championship at  ncga.org and scga.org.

 

SPECTATOR INFORMATION: Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend the California Amateur Championship. If spectators have any questions leading up to the event, please contact the NCGA at tournaments@ncga.org. Spectator carts are prohibited. Disabled spectators needing a motorized cart should contact the NCGA in advance of the event at tournaments@ncga.org

 

DRESS CODE: The dress code applies to contestants, caddies, and spectators and will be strictly enforced during the championship. Suitable attire must be warn at all times. Blue jeans, designer jeans, T-shirts and tank tops are prohibited. Golf shirts must be worn and shorts must be of appropriate length (no jean shorts).  A player or caddie violating this dress code will not be permitted to start the competition. A violation during the stipulated round must be rectified without undue delay or the player or caddie will not be permitted to continue.

 

FOOD SERVICE: Grab and go breakfast items will be available for purchase each day of the championship from The Turn. Lunch will be hosted each day of the championship for participating players from 11:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Merced Ballroom located upstairs in the clubhouse. Players must show their Player's Badge to gain access to the lunch. Caddies and spectators may purchase the players lunch $45. Additionally, caddies and spectators may purchase breakfast or lunch options from The Turn. Major credit cards only (NO CASH) will be accepted for F&B purchases. 

 

NORTH/SOUTH CHALLENGE is a two-day competition between the NCGA and the SCGA, which takes place during stroke play qualifying on Monday and Tuesday. The winning team will hold the rights to the Roger Lampham Trophy. The final results are based on the best five scores  for each of the teams over the course of the first two rounds.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY: To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of the championship, a player must notify the NCGA at
tournaments@ncga.org or (831) 622-8288. Failure to notify tournament staff will subject the player to suspension from
future CGA competitions.
